I worked as a freelance Industrial Designer 2008-2009. During this time I was approached by colleagues at Terex to give them a hand. At the time, the company had commissioned a high level Design study by IDEO - looking at common design features to unite Terex's large product range. My assignment in this case was to take an initial look as to how these cues might be successfully applied to Articulated Dump Trucks
After the initial concept studies to assess feasibility, I worked closely with the ADT team in Motherwell to productionise the design - authoring the 3D CAD A-surface used to produce the new bonnet tooling. As part of this process, we looked to integrate the lights into the bonnet - to give them more potection than the original bumper location which was first proposed.
